Town OKs tax breaks for metal company
McCORDSVILLE — Officials approved tax abatements for a metal manufacturing company during their final vote on the matter.
The McCordsville Town Council voted 4-1 on the abatements for Philadelphia-based Southwark Metal Manufacturing Co., which plans to move its Lawrence operation to a new 350,000-square foot facility on the east side of Mt. Comfort Road south of County Road 600N. The light manufacturer specializes in sheet metal pipe, duct work and fittings for residential heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems.
Town council members approved a resolution last month outlining tax abatements for both real property and personal property, both of which will be 100% in the first year, 95% the second, 90% the third, 80% the fourth, 65% the fifth and 60% the sixth before decreasing by 10 percentage points a year until they’re 20% in year 10.
Council members Larry Longman, Tom Strayer, Branden Williams and Barry Wood voted in favor of the abatements while Greg Brewer voted against.
Women in Business Conference going virtual
GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Conference will be virtual this year.

INDIANAPOLIS — Two industry events take place virtually this month from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
